Tributes Tailored with Care

Cory is a lifelong resident of Springfield. Having grown up on Springfield’s north side, many tight-knit, lifelong connections were fostered in Cory’s formative years.
 

While focusing on his musical talents after graduating from Sacred Heart-Griffin, 
Cory's career in funeral service unexpectedly began in 2009.  What started as a casual conversation about music with a funeral home owner ended in Cory accepting a part-time role assisting with visitations and funeral services. Cory immediately felt a sense of fulfillment assisting families in navigating the loss of their loved one. He found his calling.
 

Cory later earned a degree in Mortuary Science from Carl Sandburg College (Galesburg, IL) in 2014, and has maintained his status as a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Illinois since 2015. 
 

Cory has directed funerals for hundreds of families, treating each as if they were his own. He believes it’s a privilege to support families in their very first moments of need and seeing them through to the services, burial and beyond.
 

Throughout his 13-year career, Cory observed the evolution of funeral home practices, with a marked increase in cremation. More families and individuals with pre-arrangements were choosing cremation, leading to a decline in traditional funeral services. 
 

This trend often led to cremation-only services with families having to take up the planning of a memorial or celebration of life while navigating an already burdensome time.
